Painting with the pastel medium for over 25 years, Karol Oakley has won many awards for her vibrant realist style pastel paintings with works held in public and private collections, both here and overseas. She also creates paintings in other mediums, with water and the natural environment amongst her favourite themes
Karol paints from life and in the great outdoors as much possible, developing her skills and knowledge. In April 2015 Karol was in Monterey, California, attending the Plein air Convention and Expo, learning form the greats such as Albert Handell and C.W.Mundy.
Articles about painting by Karol Oakley have been published many times in Australian Artist Magazine. The latest is in the May 2015 issue. Other publications include The Pastellist International, The Pastel Society of Australia Newsletter and Hues Magazine from the Australian Guild of Realist Artists.
Karol is a member of the Pastel Society of Australia and a Master Pastellist of 18 years and was awarded a scholarship with the Pastel Society of America for 2010/2011. She is also a member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists and the Royal Queensland Art Society. At the PSA Annual exhibition and Awards, Karol’s painting won Best in Show and was awarded Pastellist of the year 2014. The winning pastel painting is titled “Vincent Van Spot – When”
As a popular and sought after tutor, Karol has tutored regularly at the USQ Toowoomba McGregor Summer School. Throughout the year Karol is invited to art groups/societies, teaching workshops, judging art shows and demonstrating pastel painting.  May 2015 Karol was back in the Greek Islands tutoring another magical painting holiday.  The gallery representing Karol's work is on the Sunshine Coast Queensland;  Gallery Beneath, Sirocco Plaza, at Mooloolaba
Karol Oakley is an artist with an ambition to paint the visual truth, to paint a representation of  the subject matter.  Her subjects are from nature and it is this world that Karol presents to you in her paintings; most of which are painted from life, either outdoors or in the studio.
