Carol Atkins
From an early age, artist Carol Atkins has shown a passion for drawing and painting. Artistically it was inevitable that the landscape would become the primary source of inspiration for Carol as it provides all the visual colour, enchantment and atmosphere she endeavours to capture on canvas in her unique style.
Born in Perth in 1967, Carol has vivid memories of big skies, red dirt, open spaces and solitude. At eight the family moved to Dunedin in New Zealand, and once again she enjoyed the abundance of picturesque scenery, space and nature. Largely a self-taught artist her upbringing has led her to find inspiration in her surroundings.
Now married with two children Carol lives in Byron Bay and paints full time.
Her work features in many private collections both here and overseas.
Artist Statement
I am inspired by nature and the ocean, I love trees and imagine the many stories they hold in their branches and expansive root systems. Nature is a kaleidoscope of colour, sound and feeling. There is always a message in my paintings; a matrix of nature and depth within. My paintings are layering detail offering the viewer both initial intrigue and depth of discovery.
