Chris De Lisle
Christopher has spent most of his life surrounded by fine art. His parents. Gordon and Cynthia De Lisle opened the De Lisle Gallery of Fine Art adjacent to the Village Green in Montville in the early 1970s. It was run as a family business and soon became a nationwide drawcard, exhibiting local artists as well as many of Australia's well known artists. This iconic Montville showpiece played an important part in pioneering the art and craft culture for which Montville is now renowned. The gallery was purchased by Tony and Joan Page in 1990 and the name changed to the Montville Art Gallery.
Chris has worked in several galleries on the Sunshine Coast but now spends most of his time painting. I see my art as a contemporary style, with links to traditional subjects. I am a lover of nature and try to capture the spirit of what is around us in large panoramic artworks, abstracted for atmospheric effects.
Chris works in mixed media, using mainly acrylics, inks and art products that create unique touches in harmony with the whole. The finishing of his artworks is the key to the overall presentation. He uses satin or gloss finishes to the acrylics and uses resin for the more mixed media works. The resin or liquid glass creates a high gloss effect that complements colour hues and adds depth to the picture. For archival longevity he uses only high grade products. Each artwork is fresh, original and unique whilst displaying the clear stamp of Chris’s style.
