Chris Postle
Chris was born in Kingaroy, Queensland in 1959. Much of his childhood was spent in the country in both Central and South East Queensland. His mother, Norma, studied art in her earlier days and it seems, passed on the artistic gene, as well as some of her handy creative techniques, to her son.
A self-taught artist, Chris has been a practicing professional for over 20 years now. Usually preferring the traditional fine art forms to express his wonderment of the inspirational natural world, he has more recently expanded his creative repertoire to include a range of impressionist and contemporary techniques.
Chris has undertaken numerous exhibitions during his career, as well as successfully opening and operating his own Gallery in Hervey Bay for a number of years.
His most recent major exhibition was held at the Hervey Bay regional Gallery in Feb 2008. A selection of recent achievements include: Finalist in the 2008 Stanthorpe Art Prize, Finalist in the 2006 Waterhouse Art History prize, Champion Picture in the Sunshine Coast Art Society - 2006, Champion Picture in the 2007 Hervey Bay Art Competition and $3,000 second prize in the 2008 Darcy Doyle Landscape, to mention but a few.
Chris is also active as a Tutor (specializing in acrylic and oil techniques) at a number of regional art societies and venues throughout Queensland.
Chris now lives and works on Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast where he finds constant inspiration from the ocean and its inhabitants as well as the rainforests and local wildlife.
